NanoOpto was founded in 2000 with the mission to create a state of the art combined research, development and production facility to commercialize its unique patented and/or proprietary IP and processes for the production of nanoscale optical components with over $50 million in investments from leading venture Capitalists. Over the next 5 years NanoOpto's products and technology gained acceptance from leading technology companies worldwide. The company's development of these products and technologies forms the basis for its volume manufacturing facility in Somerset, New Jersey. In 2007 NanoOpto was purchased by API Technologies Corp., a major international supplier of electronic components and systems to, military, aerospace, medical, telecom, communications and other leading electronic OEM's.
