Zschau, Chairman and Co-Founder
Dr. Zschau is a Visiting Lecturer with rank of Professor at Princeton
University in the Electrical Engineering department. He also works
with a variety of entrepreneurial enterprises and public policy
organizations. Dr. Zschau has had a long and distinguished career
in business, public policy, and academia. Among his many accomplishments,
Dr. Zschau was founder and CEO of System Industries, a Silicon Valley
computer products company, from 1968 to 1982, and General Manager
of IBM’s Storage Systems Division from 1993 to 1995. He served
as Director and Chairman of the American Electronics Association
in the 1970s and as U.S. Congressman from Silicon Valley for two
terms in the 1980s. Dr. Zschau was California’s Republican
nominee for the U.S. Senate in 1986. In addition to his post at
Princeton, Dr. Zschau has taught in the Graduate Schools of Business
at both Harvard and Stanford Universities.
Barry
Weinbaum, President and CEO
Barry
Weinbaum assumed the role of CEO and President of NanoOpto
in August 2001 after a 21-year career at Lucent Technologies and
AT&T, where his most recent position was Vice President—Optical
Long Haul Solutions in the Optical Networking Group. At Lucent,
Mr. Weinbaum established a record of leading start-up, existing,
and turn-around operations to market leadership in a variety of
product and technology areas. Highlights of these accomplishments
include directing Lucent’s Mergers and Acquisition team for
the Optical Networking Group, managing the Wireless PBX enterprise
and Voice Response businesses, and pioneering the Computer Telephony
business. Mr. Weinbaum holds a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics
from Union College in Schenectady, NY, and an MS in Computer Science
from Columbia University.
Hope
Conoscente, VP of Human Resources & Administration
Mrs.
Conoscente is a Human Resources executive with over 25 years in developing
and leading Human Resources functions in diverse organizational environments.
Before joining NanoOpto, Mrs. Conoscente held a
leadership position establishing the staffing function for a successful
technology start-up, BusinessEdge Solutions. She began her career
at American Express, where she held successive positions, culminating
as the Director of Personnel for the Corporate Offices. Following
American Express, Mrs. Conoscente served as the Vice President of
Human Resources for the Bank of America, developing a Human Resources
function for the World Banking Division, serving on the Executive
Counsel, and acting as a key member of the Global Systems Services
leadership team. She later joined Bader Hartely & Associates
as the Managing Director of the Technology Practice. Mrs. Conoscente
holds a BA in Psychology from Adelphi University, and has earned
an MA, with Distinction, in Counseling Psychology from Rider University.
Maria
Light, Director of Product Management and Business Development
Mrs. Light has over 19 years of experience in Business Development, Product Management,
Sales and Marketing, and Engineering. Prior to joining NanoOpto,
Mrs. Light was Senior Vice President of Business Development at Inrad, where
her responsibilities included leading merger and acquisition activity and initiating
strategic alliances. She also held a Senior Design Engineer role at Litton Laser
Systems, where she designed receivers for large rangefinder systems, and where
she was part of the design team for the first dual wavelength receiver to be
used on lasers that could operate in either active field or eye-safe modes. Mrs.
Light holds a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Kenneth McCauley, VP of Marketing and Sales
Mr. McCauley brings over 25 years of experience in Engineering,
Marketing, Business Development, and Sales to NanoOpto.
He started his career at AT&T Microelectronics in Process and
Applications Engineering, moving into Marketing, International
Business Development, and Sales roles that included Asia/Pacific
expatriate experience while residing in Hong Kong and Japan. Prior
to joining NanoOpto, Mr. McCauley was Vice President
of Business Development at International Quantum Epitaxy (IQE).
At IQE, he diversified the customer base and grew the business
to profitability. At Anadigics, Mr. McCauley built a Field Sales
Team, secured design wins, and grew the Asia/Pacific Region from
a small base to the company’s largest sales region. While
at Lucent Microelectronics, he built a Global Sales Team in the
telecom and wireless market segment, successfully selling to leading
customers in that space. Mr. McCauley holds a BS in Chemical Engineering
from Bucknell University, and an MBA from the University of Richmond.
Bruce
Nonnemaker, VP of Manufacturing and Operations
Mr. Nonnemaker has over 30 years of experience in Operations, Manufacturing,
Sales, Marketing, and Finance. Before joining NanoOpto, Mr.
Nonnemaker was an Executive VP at Emcore with divisional responsibility for their
equipment and materials business. He has also held executive positions at Alpha
Industries, KLA Instruments Technology, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr.
Nonnemaker holds an MBA from Boston University, an MSEE from Lehigh University,
and a BSEE from Pennsylvania State University.
Nada
O’Brien, VP of Product Development
Dr.
O’Brien
brings 12 years of progressive experience in research and development,
technology, and product development in the fields of optics and thin
film coatings to NanoOpto.
O’Brien started her career at Optical Coating Lab, Inc. (OCLI)
as an R&D Engineer, and was later promoted to lead the R&D
group for OCLI’s Telecommunications Division. Shortly after
the acquisition of OCLI by JDSU, O’Brien held positions with
increasing responsibilities in JDSU’s OCLI Products Division,
leading product development efforts in display, instrumentation,
and digital imaging optics. Prior to joining NanoOpto,
O’Brien was Product Development Manager at JDSU, where she
was responsible for the launch of new products in a $40M global optics
and display business. O’Brien, who has been awarded three patents,
holds both a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering
from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a B.S. in Chemical
Engineering from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana.
Andrew Savadelis, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Savadelis
brings over 25 years of experience in Finance, Operations, Planning,
and Sales to NanoOpto. Prior to joining NanoOpto,
Mr. Savadelis was CFO, SVP Finance, and Board Member at Alfacell
Corporation, where he was responsible for closing the single largest
financing in the company’s history. Previously, he held executive
positions as CFO and SVP of Finance at Orchid BioSciences Inc.; Principal
at Stratus Photonics; CFO and EVP of Finance at eMagin Corporation;
Treasurer and Director of M&A and Director Investor Relations
at Anadigics; and Manager Corporate Treasury at Bristol-Myers Squibb
Company. Mr. Savadelis holds a B.S. in Biology from Albright College
and an MBA from Cornell University.
Jian
Jim Wang, Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Wang has over 10 years of experience in optical devices, optoelectronic devices,
and nanolithography. He is one of the world’s experts in nano-structure
fabrication and commercial applications. Prior to joining NanoOpto,
Dr. Wang worked as a lead design engineer at Lucent Technologies and Agere Systems.
He was also part of the research staff at Princeton University. Dr. Wang holds
a BS in Physics from Fudan University, Shanghai, and a Dr.rer.nat in Optoelectronics
from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
